An Apartment Christmas

The holidays are a big occasion, but how do you decorate without cluttering in a small living space? A great deal of city dwellers unfortunately cannot have full-sized trees for their celebrations simply due to a lack of space, but that doesn't mean that you cannot incorporate a striking tree effect to kindle the magic of the season.

A tomato cage wrapped tightly in twinkle lights (oh yes, that is the official term for those) is pint-sized and charming, creating a warm glow in your cozy abode. Another creative option is to hang your Christmas cards on a makeshift tree of twigs in a vase for a sentimental detail that simultaneously addresses the matter of where to display all of those loving notes that keep arriving by post.

Hanging a sparkling wreath over a table is another wonderful idea that is easy to create and very effective, but my all time favourite festive decorating solution has to be the bookshelf tree. Simply lean the books appropriately to simulate the tree shape and voila, you're not bringing anything new into your living space for the season but still have the jolly presence of a large cheerful tree! What are some of your small saving decor tricks?

  1. never saw the bookshelf idea before - wild! I really like having twinkly starry lights in the house.

  2. Gorgeous Christmas tree! I would definitely get one of these for my new home in apartments in dallas tx. I also fell in love with the chandelier.
